This project began as an exploration into the design and branding of a premium matcha tea experience, offering a hands-on journey through the complete development process from concept to finished product.
It encompasses every stage in the creation of a cohesive matcha product line—ranging from the initial brand identity, sophisticated packaging design, and product labeling to manufacturing processes and the development of an online e-commerce presence, all while maintaining a strong commitment to sustainability in materials and production.
The result is a cohesive and versatile product line, where each element and packaging is carefully designed to create a refined and sophisticated tea experience.

branding.
about
Chado is a brand rooted in the art and essence of Japanese tea culture. Its name, meaning “The Tea’s Way”, reflects a journey inspired by the richness of traditional matcha practices, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Chado embraces the cultural legacy of matcha while presenting it in a refined and modern way.
As a brand, Chado is guided by the core values embodied in the traditional Japanese matcha ceremony: harmony, respect, purity, and tranquility. These principles shape every aspect of the brand, from its visual identity to the design of its products, creating a meaningful connection between tradition and modern tea culture.

visual identity
The visual identity of Chado brings together color, shape, and graphic elements to create a cohesive and authentic brand language. The color palette, based on natural matcha greens paired with soft beige, establishes a balanced and organic aesthetic. Shapes throughout the packaging are inspired by the flowing patterns of matcha fields, translating the landscape into a subtle visual language that reflects the origin of the product.
The logo system, including the isologo and isotype, combines circular forms with the textured pattern of a matcha field. Drawing from Japanese symbolism, the circle represents unity, balance, and harmony, while the field texture references traditional matcha cultivation, reinforcing authenticity and sophistication. Hand-drawn illustrations complement these elements, adding a crafted and human touch across products and packaging, unifying the overall visual identity and emphasizing the brand’s connection to both tradition and modern design.

personal reflections.
Developing this matcha experience from scratch taught me how physical product design, sustainable materials, and brand identity must intertwine. It challenged me to look beyond the object itself, realizing that true design is about creating a cohesive, immersive journey from the first detail to the final unboxing.
